Big East Predictions

West Virginia wins the Backyard Brawl to go into the regular season finale undefeated where they'll lose to South Florida.  It's another strange year for the conference, with Greg Schiano being the dean of coaches but it will be interesting to see if he'll keep his job if this prediction comes true.  I like the hires of Holgorson and (eventually) Graham at their respective schools and that rivalry is going to be appointment television sooner rather than later.  Skip Holtz seems to have stabilized South Florida and they'll be a program to watch as perhaps the ones to most benefit from any possible disaster down in Miami.  I think they'll beat Miami this season.  I have Connecticut, Syracuse and Cincinnati obviously all at the same level, trading wins with each other.  Charlie Strong did good work last year with Louisville, but everyone who was a difference-maker last year (Bilal Powell for starters) is long gone.  If his loyalty to the school is as accurate as reported, Strong will have Louisville up there with Pittsburgh, West Virginia and newcomers Texas Christian as a clear upper echelon in the conference going forward.  Rutgers is on a downwards slide.  There's only so much talent available for Rutgers, Connecticut and Syracuse, and the Knights seem to have lost their way in the woods.
